Working alongside partners they visit businesses and residents with a questionnaire, identifying local problems that are put into a twelve week plan.
This initiative was first carried out in the Stow and used a range of resources including increased patrols, local intelligence to help identify offenders and using ‘Community Payback’ to clear up the area. At the conclusion of the twelve weeks the CPT met with residents and businesses to provide a ‘you said – we did’ update.
Following on from the success of the twelve week plan in the Stow, the CPT are now working towards a community project/youth club in Black Bush. The Street Pastors patrol each week in the Stow town centre and Police have also carried out patrols with Essex County Youth Services. In addition Harlow Police Cadets and Harlow Active Citizens are now up and running.
The 12 week plan has since been rolled out at Staple Tye. Following reports of ASB in the high street Police began the ‘Coffee with Cops’ initiative to engage with the community and forge relationships with no agenda. The initiative is supported and funded by MacDonald’s and has proved hugely successful with the local community.
